Wenner-Grens Pavillion
Axel (the Last Viking) & Marguerite (American ex-opera singer) Wenner-Gren got filthy rich by selling vacuum cleaners (Electrolux) and did an almost hostile take over of the palace when Torsten Kreuger got implicated in a huge fraud and needed to “dispose” of some assets. The Wenner-Grens owned the palace from 1934-1973, and lived here besides their other four homes in Stockholm, Mexico, The Bahamas and New York.
During their reign they held numerous lavish parties, started several companies and charities and fostered 38 dogs and 2 deer within the walls of the Palace. Yet at the time of their death the estate was close to bankruptcy and sold at an executive auction for a dime. This Pavilion is dedicated to them and the hallways are decorated with news clippings covering their rise and fall over the years. The dogs and the deer are all still here, buried under a silver fir next to the tennis court. The Wenner-Grens rest under a nature stone next to the Eastern Wing in front of the palace.
The Pavilion overlooks the apple orchard and the statue grove. It houses 24 double rooms, 6 conference rooms and a large open kitchen where we arrange all sorts of cooking activities for conference groups and private guests.
