In 1974, when the Hartwig family took over at Häringe, the palace was in a terrible state of disrepair. No major renovations had taken place since Mr Kreuger’s days, and after the Wenner-Grens passed, everything was left to decay. Indeed, even the statues became overgrown with moss and algae! You can be sure it took plenty of scrubbing and cleaning to make these gods look respectable once again.
